Alberta Avenue

Founded prior to World War II, Alberta Avenue is one of the older residential districts in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.  It is considered a lower income neighbourhood but recently it has caught the eye of the art community and Alberta Avenue is rapidly becoming a favoured destination, much as White Avenue was during the 1980s and 1990s.
 

The eastern border is 89th Street, once known as Fox Street, the west is 97th Street, with its former name being Namayo Avenue and on the south is 111th Avenue which once was called Norwood Boulevard.  The northern edge is framed by 122nd Avenue, once bearing the name of Woodward Avenue.

The majority of the homes are single family residences, making up almost 80% of the housing market.  The remaining residences are made up of single family homes with attached suites and duplexes.  Roughly 70% of homes are lived in by their owners. The area is targeted for redevelopment under the Alberta Avenue/Eastwood Neighbourhood Improvement Plan.

Residents have easy access to the Joe Clarke Athletic Grounds and Commonwealth Stadium to the north east and to Giovani Caboto Park. Norwood Boulevard is lined with shops, restaurants and service outlets. The Norwood Elementary School, part of the Edmonton Public School System is also located on Norwood Boulevard.

Bonnie Doon

Located in south-central Edmonton, Bonnie Doon has a sizeable French speaking population. It is home to the University of Alberta's Faculté Saint-Jean, which is the only French speaking university that is west of the province of Manitoba. The campus is located on Rue Marie-Anne Gaboury, or 91st Street, just north of Whyte Avenue.

The western portion of Bonnie Doon became part of Edmonton in 1912 when the City of Strathcona merged with its larger neighbour. The following year the remainder of the land was annexed to Edmonton. The area is home to the Bonnie Doon Shopping Centre, one of the city’s oldest malls to shop in.

Bonnie Doon is bordered by 83rd Street in the east, White Avenue in the south and follows the North Saskatchewan River on its northern edge.  The western border runs along the Mill Creek Ravine. Part of the north eastern section is framed by Connors Road.

The area is served by three schools, two of which, the École Gabrielle-Roy and the École Maurice-Lavallée, are French Immersion.  The third, part of the Edmonton Public School District is Rutherford Elementary.

Boyle Street

The Boyle Street district was Edmonton, Alberta’s original downtown.  Named for attorney John Robert Boyle, it is one of the oldest parts of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada and home to many buildings of historical interest. Built between 1900 and 1915, the Pendenis Hotel, the Gem Theatre and the Kingston Powell Building are just a few examples of early architectural wonders that escaped the wrecking ball.

The district is just east of the current downtown core. The eastern border is 82nd Street, the west is framed by 97th Street and the Light Rail Transit (LRT) tracks make up the northern boundary.  The southern edge has an irregular border formed by Grierson Hill Road flowing into Rowland Road then following Alex Taylor Road to Jasper Avenue. Jasper Avenue then continues to 82nd Street.

Almost half of the private residences in the Boyle Street district were built during the 1970s.  During the 1980s a further 15% of homes were built.  Roughly 80% of the housing units are in apartment style buildings and another 15% are considered collective residences. Schools in the district include the Inner City High School and a Catholic Elementary School one block east of 92nd Street.

The area is very ethnically diverse, the highest percentage in population being Chinese at just over 15%.  The Chinatown Gate is a local landmark.  Further development is planned but Boyle Street is still considered one of the lower income areas of Edmonton.

Central McDougall

Just north of Edmonton’s downtown core sits the mostly residential district of Central McDougall. The northern boundary is 111th Avenue, the western is 109th Street and the eastern edge is framed by 101st Street.  105th Avenue borders the south.  The main street, Kingsway Avenue runs through the center of the district.

Central McDougall is considered one of the lower income neighbourhoods of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The district along with its neighbour Queen Mary Park, are slated for major redevelopment projects including construction of new condominium towers.

A new condominium complex named the Aurora is expected to start construction by the end of 2009 as part of Edmonton’s “North Edge” redevelopment concept. It is predicted this project will add 1,220 housing units to the current inventory and also offer retail inventory. The five high rise towers are expected to have a value of at least a half a billion dollars when completed.

The district is home to the Royal Alexandra Hospital and the Edmonton Public School System’s administrative office.  The Victoria School of Performing and Visual Art as well as the Prince of Wales Armory are also within the borders.  The closest shopping is at Kingsway Mall, located north of the area in the Spruce Avenue neighbourhood.  Public transit into and out of the downtown core is excellent.

Cloverdale

Fronting the North Saskatchewan River on its south side, Cloverdale is one of the river valley districts of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.  Connor’s Road outlines the southwest corner of the district, as does the approach to the Low Level Bridge and Mill Creek Ravine. Cloverdale is across the river from downtown and is connected to the north side of the river by the James McDonald and the Low Level Bridges.  Residents have access to old Strathcona via Scona Road.

One of the highlights of the neighbourhood is the Muttart Conservatory.  This is a botanical garden with four greenhouses shaped like pyramids housing a variety of plants from around the world.  Gallagher Park is also another draw and the venue for the annual Edmonton Folk Music Festival held in August. The Edmonton Ski Club is based in the district and boasts the oldest ski hill in the city.

Development began in Cloverdale prior to World War II but there has been considerable reconstruction in recent years.  Almost half of the homes were built prior to 1960 and then there was a gap in development until the late 1980s. Most of the remaining homes were built after 1990.  Single family homes account for 47 percent of residences, followed by low rise condominiums at 36 percent and row houses at 16 percent. Nearly 86 percent of homes are owner occupied.

Delton

Located in north central Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, the district of Delton is named after Edmund Del Grierson.  He was a former alderman and prominent Edmonton businessman.  The northern part of the neighbourhood borders the Yellowhead Trail, 97th Street frames the west and 122nd Avenue edges the south.

The Eastwood neighbourhood sits just east of Delton.  Other districts surrounding the area are Westwood, Alberta Avenue in the south and Killarney to the north across the Yellowhead Trail.

Schools in the area include the Delton Elementary, part of the Edmonton Public School District and Delton Day Care. Delton Park offers open green space in the centre of the neighbourhood.

The closest shopping is at Parkdale Square, Park Plaza and along 118th Avenue.  Rexall Place sports arena is to the south east and Westwood Arena is just over the border on 97th Street. The Yellowhead Trail (Highway 16) is a major highway through Edmonton and 122nd Avenue has several transit bus stops.

Downtown Edmonton

Downtown Edmonton, Alberta, Canada is not only home to provincial government but is a dynamic city centre in its own right.  The Edmonton Symphony Orchestra has its home base, the Winspear Centre, in the downtown area. The Citadel Theatre is also a popular downtown feature.  Shoppers can spend hours at the Edmonton City Centre mall located on 102nd Avenue.  Constructed by combining the former Eaton with Edmonton Centre, it offers over 170 services including shops, restaurants, prime office space and its own hotel.


The downtown district is bordered by 105th Avenue in the north, 109th Street on its western edge and 97th Street in the east.  The south is framed by Rossdale Road, 97th Avenue and 100th Avenue.  Jasper Avenue borders the southeast and is considered the city’s “main street.”  


The city’s Light Rail Train (LRT) runs underneath Jasper Avenue from 99th to 110th Streets.  Jasper Avenue is also a major traffic hub for city bus services with routes fanning out to cover much of the surrounding areas. The population of the downtown district is approximately 11,000 mostly in high-rise condominiums and apartments.


Education wise, downtown Edmonton offers Centre High, part of the Edmonton Public School Systems. Grant MacEwan University is located on the northern edge of the city in renovated property once belonging to the Canadian National Railway.  The University of Alberta has a satellite research facility on Jasper Avenue, as well as Enterprise Square which incorporates a university bookstore, the Faculty of Extension programs as well as Alumni Services.

Eastwood

Eastwood is one of the oldest neighbourhoods in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.  Located in the north central part of the city, development stared in 1906. Much of the area has been redeveloped and today most of the residences, almost 88 percent, are post World War II structures.

122nd Avenue frames most of Eastwood’s northern border but there is a portion that sits north of the avenue. This part is bordered by the Yellowhead Trail to the north, 82nd Street to the east and 86th Street to the west.  For the rest of the neighbourhood the western border is 89th Street and the southern is 118th Avenue. The eastern boundary wanders along Fort Road and the CN Rail right of way. The Coliseum LRT station on the south eastern edge gives good access to downtown and the University of Alberta.

Low rise apartments are the most common type of dwelling in Eastwood, making up 44 percent of the housing inventory. Single family homes make up 42 percent followed by a few duplexes and row houses. Just under 70 percent of the homes in the area are rentals.

Two schools service the area.  One is the St Gerard Catholic Elementary, part of the Edmonton Catholic Schools and the other is Eastwood Elementary Junior High School, part of the Edmonton Public School System.

Elmwood Park

Elmwood Park is located in the north central section of Edmonton, Alberta Canada.  Yellowhead Corridor, or Route 16, frames the north, 82nd Street is to the west and Fort Road is on the eastern edge. 122nd Avenue borders the south.

It is a fairly old area with most development occurring after World War II and prior to 1970.  Almost 66 percent of homes were built during this time period.  Roughly 55 percent of the homes are single family dwellings, followed by apartments in buildings of less than five floors accounting for 35 percent.  Duplexes make up the remainder. Rentals make up just over 58 percent of the housing in this very mobile community.

There is one Edmonton Public School within Elmwood Park’s borders and a Catholic School two blocks west of 82nd Street on the north western end of the district.  The closest shopping is at Parkdale Square and along 118th Avenue. Residents also have easy access to Rexall Place via 118th Avenue East.   In the north eastern portion of the neighbourhood is a bit of green space also called Elmwood Park.

Garneau

Located just east of the University of Alberta, Garneau is one of the oldest districts in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.  Some of the original French inspired homes have survived the fairly recent influx of high rise apartments and condominiums that now dot the neighbourhood. Today this area is mostly filled with rentals making this both attractive and convenient to U of A students.

The neighbourhood is home to the Garneau Theatre, a popular local venue.  Residents of Garneau also have easy access to downtown Edmonton, the Queen Elizabeth Pool and trendy Whyte Avenue with its restaurants and shops. Garneau Elementary School serves the area.

Garneau overlooks the North Saskatchewan River valley and just below the neighbourhood sits the John Walter Museum, the Kinsmen Sport Centre and Kinsmen Park. The closest shopping centre is Strathcona Mall to the east. Garneau Park in the center of the neighbourhood provides a bit of open green space.

Neighbouring districts include Strathcona to the east, McKernann to the south and Queen Alexandra on the south east edge.

McCauley

The first mayor of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada was Matthew McCauley. He lends his name to one of the older inner city neighbourhoods that sits north east of downtown Edmonton. Its claim to fame is the number of religious buildings within its borders. This was officially recognized by Ripley’s Believe it or Not, famed purveyors of the unusual.

The triangle shaped district is framed on the western end by 101st Street and on the north by a combination of 111th Avenue, Norwood Blvd and 112th Avenue.  The Light Rail Line (LRT) and an old right of way of the Canadian National Railway both border the south east. McCauley is to the east of Central McDougall, to the north of Parkdale and Alberta Avenue and to the northwest of Boyle Street.

The area is ethnically diverse and its population is a mixture of low and high income residents.  Little Italy is one of the higher income pockets of McCauley, while Chinatown is one of the lower.

Residents are served by the Stadium LRT Station which gives access to Commonwealth Stadium in McCauley’s north east corner as well as the rest of the Edmonton area. McCauley Public School, part of the Edmonton Public School System and the Sacred Heart Catholic School serve the area.  Shopping is available at Kingsway Garden Mall. Residents also have easy access to the Joe Clarke Athletic Grounds and Giovanni Caboto Park.

Oliver

Businessman and politician Frank Oliver was an early resident of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.  The Oliver neighbourhood is named after him and is one of the oldest residential areas in the city. Oliver also has quite a bit of commercial development. The south eastern end of the district is sometimes referred to as Grandin. Grandin School, part of the Edmonton Public School System and the Grandin LRT Station are located here.

Oliver is just west of the downtown core and is sometimes mistaken as being a part of the downtown area.  The district overlooks the North Saskatchewan River valley, Victoria Park, the Victoria Golf Course and the Royal Glenora Club. Two bridges, Groat and High Level, give residents easy access to Old Strathcona and the University of Alberta on the south side. Shopping is available at Oliver Square and along Jasper Avenue which runs through the district.

Oliver is one of the most densely populated areas in Edmonton. Most of the homes were built beginning in the 1960s.  About 30% were built in that decade with an additional 32% built in the 1970s. The early 1980s added an additional 13% to the housing inventory. Only 14% of homes predate 1960.  Recent developments include condo and retail projects such as Illuminada and Serenity.

Apartments and condominiums make up 60% of the housing market in Oliver, most in high rise buildings.  The rest are a combination of low rise apartments, row houses, duplexes and single family homes. The majority of properties are rentals.

Parkdale

Parkdale, one of the older neighbourhoods in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada is in the central part of the city just north of the downtown core.  Commonwealth Stadium is just south of the district and Rexall Place is to the north east, both easily accessed by public transit. Parkdale is considered part of the Norwood division.

Just over 40 percent of the homes were built by the time World War II came to an end. Another 32 percent of dwellings were built between war’s end and 1960.  Most residences, roughly 67 percent, are single family homes, followed by apartments and apartment style condos at 27 percent. Row houses, duplexes and a few alternative housing units are also in the area.  Over 60 percent of homes are lived in by their owners, but the population is considered highly mobile.

Parkdale’s southern boundary is 112th Avenue.  On the west is 89th Street and the north is framed by 118th Avenue.  The eastern part of the district is bordered by the Canadian National Railway right of way as well as the LRT line, which stops at the nearby Coliseum Station.  Fort Road bisects the area.

Two schools, Parkdale Elementary Junior High, part of the Edmonton Public Schools and St. Alphonsus, a Catholic facility, service the area. The closest shopping is at Parkdale Square and along 118th Avenue.

Prince Rupert

Located in north west Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, the neighbourhood of Prince Rupert sits within the Hudson’s Bay Reserve.  The triangle shaped district was developed just after World War II ended. The northeast is bordered by Kingsway Avenue, the west by 121st Street and 111th Avenue edges the south.

The majority of the homes, 71 percent, were built between the end of the war and 1960. Nearly 9 percent of properties went up between 1960 and 1970.  There was a bit of a lull in construction until the latter part of the 1990s when another 8 percent of the homes were built.  Most of these newer homes are in a development near the Kingsway shopping district in the north east section.

60 percent of homes are single family properties, followed by low rise apartments at 34 percent and then duplexes at 6 percent. A little over half of the properties are occupied by their owners. It is considered a highly mobile community.

Prince Rupert Elementary School, part of the Edmonton Public Schools serves the neighbourhood.  Shopping is available at the Kingsway Garden Mall, the Kingsway Centre and along Kingsway Avenue.  The Edmonton City Centre Airport is just to the north, as are several hotels, restaurants and businesses.

Queen Mary Park

Located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, Queen Mary Park is adjacent to the downtown core. The district is on land that once belonged to the Hudson Bay Company reserve. Queen Mary Park is named for Mary of Teck, Canada’s Queen from 1910 to 1936. She was the grandmother of the current Queen Elizabeth.

The northern boundary is 111th Avenue, the southern edge 105th Avenue and the western border is 121st Street.   109th Street brings up the east. The south west corner of Queen Mary Park is curved as it follows the old right of way of the Canadian National Railway.

The majority of homes, roughly 75% were built between the 1950s and the 1970s. Almost 85% of homes are apartments located in buildings with less than five stories. Approximately 80% of these are rented.  The remaining residences are mostly single family homes with about 75% of these being occupied by their owners. Most of the few duplexes in the inventory are rented.

107th Avenue runs through Queen Mary Park, It is lined with businesses and is a major bus route. The area between 105th and 106th Avenue is also primarily commercial with an assortment of shops and services. Queen Mary Park Elementary School, part of the Edmonton Public School System, services the area. The Lions Senior Citizen Recreation Centre is just outside the district border on 111th Avenue.

Riverdale

Riverdale is located just east of the downtown core of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Early residents of Edmonton found this a pleasant, habitable spot and soon a brickyard and lumber mill were established.  Coal was readily available by mining the nearby cliff, providing a convenient power source.

Almost 25% of the homes still standing were built prior to 1946. In the 1960s and 1970s an additional 34% of homes were added to the inventory. Building slowed with the remaining inventory being gradually added during the next two decades.

Single family homes are the most popular residential structure, making up 37% of the housing market, followed by duplexes at 24%.  Low rise apartments make up just over 20% of the housing inventory, and high rise apartments account for just under 10%. The remaining percentages are shared by row houses, rooming houses and housing classified as other. Less than 40% of homes are occupied by their owners.

Riverdale overlooks the North Saskatchewan River on its eastern and southern ends. South of Riverdale, just across the river is Cloverdale.  The Boyle Street neighbourhood is to the north. Another river valley district named Rossdale shares the approach to the Low Level Bridge with Riverdale. The area is served by Riverdale School, part of the Edmonton Public School System.  It is also home to several parks, among them Dawson Park, Allan Stein Park and Louis McKinney Park.

Rossdale

Located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, Rossdale overlooks the Saskatchewan River valley and is just south of the downtown core. This popular area is within easy reach of the Royal Glenora Club, Victoria Park and the Victoria Golf Course, all located to the west of Rossdale.  Downtown shopping is easily accessed as is the one Catholic School in the district.

Rossdale is also home to the Rossdale Power Plant, owned by EPCOR. It was opened in 1902 and has been used for decades to generate electricity.  Recently it was discovered that part of the plant site covers an aboriginal burial ground. The power plant is now slated to be decommissioned and the area opened to the public.

Roughly 10% of the housing inventory was built prior to World War II.  Between 1946 and 1970 another 17% of homes were added to the housing market. The 1980s accounted for just over 24% of homes and the 1990s for over 37%.  Rossdale is an older neighbourhood but much of the housing now available is the result of redevelopment projects.

51% of the homes in Rossdale consist of condominiums and rented apartments. Two thirds of these are in structures with less than five stories. Single family homes make up 35% of the residences, followed by row houses at 10% and duplexes at 4%.  Roughly 62% of homes are occupied by their owners.

Spruce Avenue

Spruce Avenue, located in Edmonton, Alberta Canada has much to offer within its irregularly shaped borders.  In the centre of the district is an open green space known as Spruce Avenue Park, popular with residents.

97th Street brings up the eastern border, 111th Avenue the south and Kingsway Avenue lines the south western end.  The northern boundary gets interesting, following Princess Elizabeth Avenue to 107th Street in the northeast.  The border then winds along 118th Avenue to 97th Street.

About a third of the homes were built before World War II ended. Construction continued at a fairly steady pace until completed by the early 1980s.  Single family homes account for 63 percent of housing inventory.  This is followed by apartments at 24 percent and then row houses at 11 percent. 40 percent of homes are owner occupied.

Schools in the area include Spruce Avenue Elementary Junior High School and St. Basil Catholic Elementary Junior High School.  Kingsway Mall provides convenient shopping. Residents have easy access to the Norwood Extended Care Hospital and the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital as well as the Spruce Avenue Community Centre.

Strathcona

Once a city in its own right Strathcona, located in south central Edmonton, Alberta, Canada is now a historic art district. Creative people in all disciplines of the art world flock to the theatres, restaurants and pubs on free spirited Whyte Avenue. Dubbed the Blue Mile after the 2006 Stanley Cup playoffs, this part of Edmonton got national exposure during the competition for hockey’s most coveted trophy.

Strathcona was incorporated into a town n 1899 and a few years later, in 1907 was designated a city. It was annexed by Edmonton in 1912. Most of the town’s original buildings, constructed of fire resistant brick by a town ordinance, still stand.  This gives Edmonton claim to the largest number of vintage structures in Canada’s western provinces.  

The Provincial Historic Area is primarily commercial and covers about five square blocks. The district runs from 80th Avenue north to 85th Avenue and from 106th Street east to 102nd Street.  Outside of this designated historic area are residences, churches and various non commercial buildings, some of which are also considered historic.

Schools in the area include Strathcona Senior High School and King Edward Elementary. The University of Alberta campus is just to the west, making this area popular with students.  Shops abound, not only along Whyte Avenue, but in Old Strathcona Shopping Centre and South Side Plaza. Public transit is excellent.

Strathearn

Strathearn is a neighborhood outside of Edmonton, and it was mostly developed during the 1940's and 1950's.  It is located south of Edmonton, and the general layout of the neighbourhood is shaped like a triangle.

Strathearn is bound on the east by 85th St., and it is encompassed by Connors Rd. on the south west end.  The neighborhood's northern boundary is the North Saskatchewan River valley.  The nothern-most parts of the neighborhood overlook the North Saskatchewan River valley. 

Strathearn borders the neighborhood of Cloverdale to the north and Holyrood to the east.  Boonie Doon neighborhood borders Strathearn to the south west, and Idylwyle borders Strathearn on the south east side.  A major shopping center, Bonnie Doon Shopping Center, is located just south of Strathearn, on Whyte Ave.

The area where the neighborhood sits was once annexed by the City of Strathcona around 1900, and it eventually became part of Edmonton when the two cities amalgamated.  At that time, lots were divided, but few houses were built.  Following WWII, most of the structures in the neighborhood were built between 1948 and 1955.

Census information as of 2001 showed that only 15% of residences were built during the 1970's and only fiver percent of the homes were built after 1980.  According to census information from 2005, about half of the population of the neighjborhood had lived at the same locations for more than five years.  The other half of the population was quite mobile, with twenty percent of residents living for less than a year at the same address and another twenty percent of population had moved within the past three years.

Westmount

Westmount is a residential neighborhood located to the west of Edmonton.  The geographic area of the neighborhood is oddly-shaped, with a certain point of the neighborhood overlooking the North Saskatchewan River valley.  The neighborhood is located quite close to the downtown core of Edmonton, and the southern portion of Westmount is know as Groat Estates.

Westmount's history dates back to the 1910's, when the neighborhood was originally developed to cater to the young people of the time.  By the time WWII ended, over twenty-five percent of the homes were already built.  Then, between 1945 and 1960, another twenty-five percent of the homes in the neighborhood were constructed.  The are continued to be developed throughout the 1970's and 1980's.

The Westmount neighborhood is on the front of modern living, with the majority of the homes being renovated in the past fifteen years, and many older homes are even being replaced with newer, larger construction.

Westmount is occupied mostly by single-family homes.  The neighborhood plays host to many historic homes, including the The Westmount Architectural Heritage Area and Groat Estates.  The WAHA is a special area, designated by city officials as an historic site, and it stretches from 127 St. on the west side to 124 St. on the east side.  The WAHA is bound by 111 Ave. on the south and Stony Plain Rd. on the north side.

Westwood

Westwood is a residential neighborhood that is located north of Edmonton.  The Edmonton City Center Airport is located just west of the neighborhood.  Major landmark facilities, such as the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology and Kingsway Mall, are located just to the southwest of the neighborhood.

The area where Westwood is located was annexed by the City of Edmonton in the early 1900's.  The area remained rural until after WWII, when the area began to be developed for the next two decades.  More than eighty percent of the homes in Westwood were built in the twenty years following WWII.

Westwood has many more apartments than houses.  More than sixty percent of the low-rise buildings in the neighborhood are apartment buildings.  About twenty-five percent of homes are single-family homes and the remaining units are mostly duplexes.  Very few people in the area own their own home, and over eighty percent of residents rent.

The Edmonton Public School System operates the H. A. Grey Public School in Westwood, and it is the only school in the neighborhood.  Westwood also hosts the Westwood Arena, a sporting facility.

The neighborhood also has a transit garage, called Westwood Garage, which is operated by the Edmonton Transit System.  The exact perimeters of the neighborhood run from 107 St. on the west side and 97 St. on the east side.  Westwood's northern boundary is the Yellowhead Trail and 118 Ave. is the southern boundary.

Windsor Park

Located to the south of Edmonton in a central location, the neighborhood of Windsor Park sits on the edge of the University of Alberta campus.  The neighborhood also overlooks the North Saskatchewan River Valley to the north and the west.  Windsor Park shares a southern boundary with the neighborhood of Belgravia.

Because of the neighborhood's central location in relation to Edmonton, access to other parts of Edmon is quick and convenient due to multiple LRT stations located on the campus of the University of Alberta, not to mention the roads are also very accessible.

On the southern side of Windsor Park sits two parks; Emily Murphy Park and Hawrelak Park are located just outside of the neighborhood's southern boundaries.  Downtown Edmonton, the Westmount Centre, and Telus World of Science are all easily accessible through Groat Road and Groat Bridge.

The main thoroughfare in Windsor Park is 114 St., which gives residents quick access to Whitemud Drive and the Southgate Centre.  Whitemud Drive provides residents with a quick route to the north side of Edmonton, where major shopping centers are located, such as West Edmonton Mall.

The LRT stations on the campus of the university provide citizens with excellent access to downtown Edmonton, along with easy access to most destinations in and around Edmonton.
